What is Cite?

Every once and a while you will see this: [citation needed]

This means someone has cast doubt on the preceding statement and requests a citation to prove that the statement is true.

Templates
{{cite}} - This template marks a place where you think there should be a citation or reference. It basically just adds [citation needed].
{{reflist}} - This template creates a formatted list of numbered citations/references created by using the <ref></ref> tags.

What is a Citation?

A citation is a link, reference, or screenshot that somehow supports a statement as face, proves it is true, or at least makes it more credible. If you know of a citation, you should use it, but they generally are only needed if someone requests them.

Special tags used for citations/references

These tags create reference links (like [1]) and lists of references.

<ref>reference</ref> - Wikipedia has many templates that use these tags.
<reference> - Most people use {{reflist}} instead (see below).

How do I add a Citation?
