Colosseum V is the 5th season of Colosseum.

It started on March 29, 2021 and ended on June 28, 2021. It lasted 92 days (13 weeks and 1 day).

In-game information

How to play

【Time】10:00-13:00&20:00-23:00. During this time, you can join the battle multiple times.

【Matchmaking】You can choose Random Team or Set Team to search for other players. We will arrange similar-tier opponents for you. The search will stop if no opponent has been found for 10 minutes. When below the golden tier, players below level 150 can only be matched to players below level 150.

【Losing Streak Protect】If you lose more than 5 times in a row, Colosseum Point to be deducted would be halved and the Honor Points remains the same. The protection effect disappears after a victory or an inactive match(hasn't spent any tokens during a battle).

【Team up】The Gladiator cannot form a team or join a team, be invited. The tiers within the team cannot differ by more than 3.

【Battle】5v5 battle is similar to 10v10. You have 10 tokens when you enter the battle and the amount restores by 5 every 2 minute. The maximum time of each battle is 20 minutes.

【Anti-botting】If a player hasn't spent any tokens during a battle, they won't get Honor points and Colosseum points upon victory, but will lose Colosseum points upon defeat.

【Reward】You will earn 10 Colosseum points when you win, and lose 10 Colosseum points when you fail. Every time you gain 100 Colosseum points(When you are in bronze, you only need gain 30 Colosseum points, and in silver you need gain 50 Colosseum points), they will be converted into 1 star, conversely you will lose 1 star when your Colosseum points fall below 0. After winning 50 battles, Colosseum points you gained will be reduced.

【Tier】Player starts from Bronze Ⅲ. Tiers include: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Gladiator, from low to high.

【Honor Point】You can exchange Honor Points for rewards in Shop.

Tiers WIN LOSE WEEK LIMITED
Bronze 150 90 3600
Silver 200 120 4800
Gold 250 150 6000
Platinum 300 180 7200
Diamond 350 210 8400
Gladiator 450 270 10800

Changes compared to last season

Here are the part of the rules that were added with this season:

• "When below the golden tier, players below level 150 can only be matched to players below level 150."
This means that in Bronze and Silver, players level 1 to 150 would only face each other. When reaching Gold, they would then be mixed with all the other players however.

•【Losing Streak Protect】: whole new rule.
After losing 5 matches in a row, if you kept losing on your subsequent matches you'd only lose 5 Colosseum Points (CP) per loss instead of 10. This "protection" would stop after winning a single match again.

•【Team up】: whole new rule.
"The Gladiator cannot form a team or join a team, be invited." => This part of the rule did not work at all during the season.
"The tiers within the team cannot differ by more than 3." => This meant for instance that someone in Gladiator couldn't team up with someone in Silver (but he could team up with someone in Gold).

• "(When you are in bronze, you only need gain 30 Colosseum points, and in silver you need gain 50 Colosseum points)"
You only needed 30 CP for a star in Bronze, and 50 CP in Silver. Higher ranks still all required 100 CP per star.

Bravery token

Bravery token Colosseum s5 home page.png

Colosseum V introduces Bravery tokens and with them, the use of Favor Points in Colosseum.

"After activation,The system will automatically use it to avoid deduction of colosseum point when you fail.More purchase won't be available when they reach the storage limit 10.Your token will be cleared before the start of each season, please use it up at the end of the season."

You can buy 1 token for 5 FP, with a daily limit of 5 purchases. You start with 0 token and can have a maximum of 10 at a time.

Starting at Gold, you could only purchase 3 tokens daily instead of 5 in Bronze and Silver (needs to be verified for Diamond and Gladiator ranks).

Details about this season

Rank Protection

Bronze and Silver:
Players can lose Colosseum points but not stars.

Gold and above:
No protection. Players can lose points, stars, drop down a tier and even a rank. It's not possible to drop down back to Silver I, though.

Matchmaking

There is no apparent changes to the matchmaking (since season 3).

Note:
Being in Gold, it's possible to often be matched against or with Platinum or Diamond players.
In addition, the teams won't necessarily . It's possible to have a team composed of 4 Gold players + 1 Platinum facing a team of 3 Gold + 1 Platinum + 1 Diamond.

Number of tokens available

As in last season, you start a match with 10 tokens and get 5 back every 2 minutes.
=> Maximum of 55 tokens during a 20 minutes match.

Colosseum Points earning

This is simply a reminder, as the rule regarding this hasn't changed since the introduction of CPs in season 3:

After winning 50 matches during a single Colosseum session, you'll start earning only 3 CPs per win instead of 10 for the remainder of the session. After 100 wins, you stop earning CPs altogether.
Which means you can earn a maximum of 650 CPs per session, which translates to 6.5 stars (500 CPs from the first 50 wins, 150 from another 50 wins after that). These limitations don't affect the vast majority of the playerbase however; they just limit the speed at which the "top players" can climb the ranks.

Bugs

There were two very common bugs happening during this season:

  • In gold and above, when at 10 points, losing a match made you lose 20 points at once (every time): you would go back to the previous star, at 90 points (instead of staying at the same star with 0 points).
    • If you were at 5 points, losing would also bring you back to the previous star at 90 points (resulting in a 15 points loss).
    • This is a remnant of the 50/60 points loss which would happen in the same way during the two previous seasons.
  • Sometimes matches weren't recorded: you would not win/lose any Colosseum points and Honor Points, and the match would not show up in the Record tab.

*CP = Colosseum Points.

There were two probably unintended particularities during this season:

  • Everyone started at Bronze II (1 star, 0 points) instead of Bronze III.
  • There were only 4 tiers in Platinum, while there were 5 when Colosseum was introduced. Unsure about how many tiers there were in season 2 to 4.

Note:

  • It appears the leaderboard and everyone's rank in general update every 15 minutes.

Shop

You can use Honor Points to buy plenty of different items.

In the Colosseum Shop, an unlimited number of each item can be purchased as long as you have enough points.

You can keep buying things from the shop between Colosseum seasons, as Honor Points carry over from season to season.

Season 5 Leaderboard

At the end of the season:

  • The top player of Colosseum had 672 stars,
  • The rank 10 player had 429 stars,
  • The rank 50 player had 133 stars.

This season, it was possible to lose Colosseum Points (but not stars) in Bronze and Silver. Which may explain why a bit less players reached Gold and above in total, as during the previous season Bronze and Silver were completely protected (it was not possible to lose Points). The difference in numbers was not huge however as it required a lot less Points in total this season to go from Bronze to Gold.
However, once in Gold or above it was easier (although still very difficult and time-consuming) to climb ranks than during season 4 as you would never lose 50 or 60 points for a single loss anymore (there were two bugs however: you would lose 20 Points at once sometimes, and sometimes matches weren't recorded so you'd earn no Points for winning). This probably explains why more players reached Platinum, Diamond and Gladiator this season.

Here are the estimated numbers for each rank at the end of the season (those are not official and not 100% accurate):

  • 14,342+ players entered Colosseum V (~100%)
  • ~8,400 ended with Bronze as their highest rank of the season (~58.57%)
  • ~2,750 with Silver (~19.17%)
  • ~2,650 with Gold (~18.48%)
  • 186 with Platinum (~1.30%)
  • 47 with Diamond (~0.33%)
  • 315 with Gladiator (~2.20%)

Which means:

  • ~22.31% of the players reached Gold or higher,
  • only ~3.83% of the players reached Platinum or higher.
