Furnace is a feature allowing you to gain bonus stats by smelting Equipment.
In order to get bonus stats added to your Keep, you need to destroy Equipment using Smelting Crystals.
Be aware that smelting a piece of Equipment will destroy it - don't smelt anything of value!
In-game Information
1. You can get bonus stats by increasing the Furnace level.
2. Smelting equipment can gain Furnace exp. The higher the equipment stats, the more exp is gained (Not calculate enhance stats). The equipment will disappear after smelting.
3. Smelting equipment costs Smelting Crystal or Rare Smelting Crystal.
4. The equipment that equipped or set in Loadouts cannot be smelted.
5. The equipment that forged cannot be smelted, please smelt after salvage.
6. The initial level cap of the Furnace is 100, you can spend Tungsten Ore for increase the level cap. The max level cap is 1000.
Smelting Crystals
Smelting and Rare Smelting Crystals are required in order to smelt (destroy) Equipment and level up your Furnace. Tungsten Ore is used to increase the max level of your Furnace beyond level 100.
Smelting Crystals can be found in:
- The Mystic Emporium, purchasable with Favor Points;
- The Treasure Island event;
- The Meteorite event (alchemize 120 Gold Meteorites);
- The Limited Time Monster: Demon Chimera event;
- The limited time Kung Fu Treasure Chest.
- The Colosseum Shop since season 4.
- The Lost Dungeon (possible reward for defeating certain bosses)
Rare Smelting Crystals can be found in:
- The Treasure Island event (milestone chests only);
- The Meteorite event (top 1000 and above);
- The Limited Time Monster: Demon Chimera event;
- Certain Promo Packs. The first one was the Easter Day Promo on April 10, 2020 which included 50 rare crystals.
- The limited time Kung Fu Treasure Chest.
- The Colosseum Shop since season 4.
- The Lost Dungeon (possible reward for defeating high stages bosses)
Tungsten Ore can be found in:
- The Lost Dungeon (end rewards, top 300 and above)
In game, Smelting Crystals seem to also be referred to as common crystals, and Rare Smelting Crystals as uncommon crystals.
Furnace Leveling
Leveling up the Furnace increases the amount of bonus stats it provides (see table below).
Those stats will be added to the bonus stats in green in your Keep, along with Item Archives, Runes and Equipped Items bonuses, and although there is no line for the Furnace its bonus stats will be added to the total.
Your Furnace starts at level 0/100, giving no bonus, and with the XP bar at 0/100, 100 XP being required to reach level 1.
For each subsequent level, it appears the XP required to reach the next level increases by 100, so you will need 200 XP to go from level 1 to 2, 300 XP from 2 to 3, etc.
In order to earn Furnace XP, you need to smelt pieces of Equipment using Smelting Crystals. Depending on the piece of Equipment stats, it will require more or less Smelting or Rare Smelting Crystals and provide more or less XP (see the Equipment efficiency section below).
Important note:
Be careful, the excess of XP is NOT carried over to the next Furnace level progression. For instance if your Furnace is level 2 with 270/300 XP and you smelt a piece of Equipment giving you 90 XP, you will end up at level 3 with 0/400 XP (and NOT 60/400 XP).
Tungsten Ore is used to increase the max level of your Furnace beyond level 100. At this moment is it only available in The Lost Dungeon event (reward for top 300).

Stats and XP required probably keep increasing this way at least up until level 100. |
Notes:
- Figures in italics are projections only and not yet proven.
- The stats bonuses shown in the table are cumulative. For instance if your Furnace is level 3, it will provide a total of +5 Attack, +5 Defense and +5 Health (the first level provides +5 Attack, the 2nd level +5 Defense, and the third level +5 Health).
Raising level cap
The Furnace level can be increased past level 100 using Tungsten Ore.
Considering how exponentially difficult it is to level up the Furnace, it may not be useful to anyone before a long time. It took almost 4 months for the first player to reach level 50, and it requires almost 3 times as much XP to go from level 50 to 100 (unless the XP requirements stop increasing in the same way at some point).
Increasing the level cap from level 100 to 110 costs 1 Tungsten Ore.
Equipment efficiency
Smelting a piece of equipment provides a certain amount of XP towards your Furnace level. This amount of XP depends exclusively on the sum of the Attack stat and the Defense stat of the item.
The higher the stats sum, the higher the amount of XP you're going to get, especially since higher stats items get additional XP bonuses in the form of multipliers. The higher the item's stats the higher the Smelting Crystals cost as well however, but you're still getting better returns with higher stats items.
Here is the very simple formula to know how much XP an item is going to give you:
XP provided = Stats sum * Multiplier (rounded down)
You can see what an item is going to give you by clicking on it in the Furnace so you don't need the formula, but it can be useful to determine which items are the most efficient to use.
Example
Here is an example with a random item: Legion Gauntlets (60 Attack / 50 Defense).
Stats sum = 60 + 50 = 110
110 is in the 101-150 stats sum range, which means it will get a x3 multiplier.
So XP provided = 110 * 3 = 330
Smelting 1 Legion Gauntlets will cost 2 Rare Smelting Crystals and provide 330 Furnace XP.
Extrapolation
The table above was verified by checking items in the Furnace. However there are certain stats ranges where no items exist. We can most likely expect this, for potential future items that could fall into these ranges:
Strategy
To use your Smelting Crystals in the most efficient way, it appears you should:
- Smelt equipment with a stats sum of 60 with Smelting Crystals.
- Smelt equipment with the highest stats possible with Rare Smelting Crystals.
However of course the items need to be relatively easy to obtain, as you're not going to smelt your Legendary Equipment for instance.
So the best item to smelt with Rare Crystals seems to be the Mithril Guardian (stats sum of 200), followed by Legion Skyslicer and Flamebound Halberd (stats sums of 190). Those are rare drops from Chromus, Samael and Vargulis.
Furnace XP surplus does not carry onto the next level, plan accordingly to minimize wasting resources.
Notes
- Introduced March 19, 2020. Usable as of March 27, 2020.
- First discussion thread (forums)
- Leveling up the Furnace becomes increasingly difficult, and the bonus stats it provides are very small compared to how hard it is to earn them. In its current state, it's very far from being a game-changing feature to say the least.
