So... Want to know the basics about adding a guide to the strategy guide section?

First of all, editing a wikia wiki is really easy.  To edit a page, all you have to do is click "Edit this page" at the top of the page.  From there you are brought to a "What You See is What You Get" wiki editor.  This means that when you edit it, what you see is what you get.  If you write some text, some text appears.  If you push "enter" on your keyboard a few times, it will add breaks between your paragraphs.  It's like you're editing a word document.  (If you know wiki code, and want to edit the page like it was a regular wiki, click the button that looks like a shell or a command prompt at the top right corner of the page after you clicked "Edit this page".  If you want to switch back to "What You See is What You Get" click the command prompt looking button again).

The rest is pretty simple, but if you want to know what the specific buttons do, I can show you.

First of all, if you want to make a new page, go to the top of your browser, and edit the URL to the name of the new page.

If I want to make a page in the strategy guide section, take a look at the strategy guide URL:

To make a page under the Strategy Guides, take the URL above, add a "/" then Type in the name of your guide:

While doing this, please remember that Capitalization counts:

will lead to a different page than:

When adding a new page, make sure you do it under the strategy guide section (by making the new page URL start with ", and adding the "/" and then the name of your guide.  This will allow people to easily navigate the guide section.  If you didn't understand a word of that, make your guide at the bottom of the Strategy Guide page, and someone else will move the info for you to where it should go.

Pushing H2 turns the text into this format[]

Pushing H3 turns the text into this format.  If you want to make a table of contents, use H2 to make main sections of your guide, and H3 to make sub-sections of your guide.[]

B Stands for BOLD

I is for Italics

U can underline with U

If you need to make it look like you crossed something out, S is right for you.

To remove a heading (H2 or H3) select the text and push the N button.

If you want text in a box like this, click the "PRE"

Do you like to indent?
Increase or decrease the indent with the two buttons below H2 and H3.

Only one way to find out...

  • Do you need to make a bulleted list?
  • Click the "Add a bulleted list" button
  • Or use the * at the beginning of every line that you want bulleted
    • This is what happens if you increase the indent on a bulleted list
      • Yep, this is what happens
  • To make a new line that is not bulleted, push "enter" on your keyboard twice

  1. Like numbers instead of bullets?
  2. Click Add a numbered list instead
    1. If you increase the indent, the number restarts back to "1"
    2. Use this if you need to make an outline like this
      1. If you increase the indent
    3. Then decrease the indent
  3. It continues numbering where you left off  since the last time you added a number to the list
    1. But look at this
    2. and this
      1. and this!  see what happens when you indent at certain places!
    3. More examples!
      1. I said More Examples!!!!!!
      2. Ok, that's enough examples
  4. To add a line, and break away from the numbered list, push "enter" on your keyboard twice

Do you want to add a hyperlink?  Click the "Add Link" button.  Do you want to change text and link it to another page?  Select the text, then click "Add Link".

There are two kinds of links.  Internal, and External.  Internal leads to other pages in the Castle Age wiki, External leads you anywhere else.

To make an internal link work, type the name of the page after "".  So if you want to link to the page, you would type in "Strategy Guides" or "Strategy_Guides" where it asks for a link.

A numbered external link looks like this: [1]:

Need to remove a link?  Select the link and click the "Remove a link" button.  Or right click on the link, and select "Remove a link"

Need to edit a link?  Select a link and click the "Add Link" button, or right click the link and select "Edit Link"

Need to add some pictures to your guide?  Click the "Add picture" button above.

Need to upload a picture?  Click the "Add picture" button above.

Want to add a video?  Click the "Add a video" button.  Though you do have to upload your video someplace other than on this wiki.

Want to Add A Table? Click the "Create a table" button
Horizontal is left and right Vertical is up and down
Need more space in your table? Set the width and height to "0" and the wiki will auto adjust the chart to fit whatever's in the chart

To delete a row or column from your table Select the rows/columns you want to delete, the right click your selection, select "Row" or "Column" and select "Delete Rows/Columns"

Want to add your signature?  Click the "Add your signature" button.  This only works if you sign up as an editor of the wiki.  When you click this, before you save your edit, your sig will look like 4 of these things "~" --Vincent The Frugal 05:06, November 15, 2009 (UTC)

You probably don't have to worry about adding Templates.

Don't forget about the "Undo" and "Redo" options at the top left!

Want to edit in widescreen?  Click toggle widescreen

Do you want to edit the wiki-code behind your edit?  Click the "View Wikitext" button to do so!

If you want to summarize your edit, do so at the button of the page, next to the "Save Page" button.

Want to preview your work?  There's a button at the bottom that will let you.

Did you make a minor edit?  Be sure to check the "Minor edit" box.

Do you want to be alerted every time someone edits the page you edited?  Be sure to watch this page by checking the checkbox next to "Watch This Page" at the bottom of the screen.

And that's the basics, you should now know everything you need to know to bring your guide to the wiki.
