Verminarch, Death Rat Horde SlainUpon breath of night, under the darkest moon, by the mountains side, in the valleys deep, lie in wait, the pits of wrath. Where the dark horde breeds, count the days, for their release upon the world signals the conquest eternal. The encampment of this rat chief is littered with carved bone and bloodied metal. Your arrival is greeted with a deathly silence. A pack of rats spur from the shadows to cull your advance. These minions quickly overwhelm you, furiously gnawing at your armor and striking you with their crudely crafted weapons. The crashing torrents of these fowl creatures meet your blades' whirling defensive strikes. You conjure up a magical thunderstorm that shock the lesser vermin. Their rat chief, Verminarch, snarls back “Your bones will adorn my suit quite nicely, fleshing.” Verminarch brandishes a weapon created from an amalgamation of bones and metal and suddenly lunges for to attack. You stay your distance while dodging his relentless assault. Verminarch's tyranny of steel keeps your advance in check. It appears as the battle draws on that you will not be able to defeat him in matched combat. In an act of desperation, you fling a stashed dagger at his face. It finds its mark. He howls in pain as his one good eye bleeds out from its socket. The blinded rat monarch thrashes out with huge arching sweeps of his blade. You take the advantage and approach his flank. “I can smell you!” he howls as he turns around. However it is too late for him! By the time he draws his weapon, you are upon him. With a few swift strikes the rat beast collapses and the camp once again falls silent. |
